    Heated grips

It would happen just as we are coming into winter.    My left hand heated grip has failed.   I mentioned this to the dealership and they said we don't usually fix them, just replace it with a new kit.   I've done the obvious, checked the fuse etc but can't find a problem.   Is replacement the only option.

    Doubt it would be repairable.

You CAN order the individual Heated Grips though.

The Left Hand Heated Grip is Part Number T2042513 - Around £30.

    Cheers,

I'd go with coconut's advice. A new set by the dealers is a lot more pricy.

Underneath the Glove Box are two small white connectors - one for each Grip.

If you have a Test Meter, check them both for Power when the Engine is running and the Grips are turned ON.

If they both have Power, and one Grip isn't heating up, that indicates the Grip,
or the wiring from the connector to the Grip, is faulty.

You could also unplug the connector and check for continuity between both Pins on the Grip side.

When my left-hand grip failed I too bought a new one and whilst replacing it found that the wires had been pinched on its last assembly and a splice in the cable fixed the problem.  It is very easy to pinch the wire in the switch housing during assembly and it is easy to undo the fastenings and have a look.

If I had looked first I'd have saved the cost of a left hand heated grip, which I did install but kept the repaired one as a spare.

    Happy hunting.

    Love, light, and kindness,

    Dave

    ikkieman,

I always go with Coconuts advice.   Coconut, thanks once again.   I might have a go at fitting it myself, can't be that difficult.  Can it?

Good luck with it Phil, fingers crossed that it's not actually the wire within the grip that's burnt out, sorting out a bad/poor connection at say the switch would be less hassle I feel.
