Saying Bye Bye

This is by far the best bike forum, bar none. A couple of weeks back I wheeled the Trophy out and could not man handle it, main stand, side stand backward or forward, 3 panniers, tank bag, my missus and a load of fuel - and an up coming 5000 mile tour to Greece, the Stelvio and countless mountain passes, TOO HEAVY , so I traded in the comfy Trophy for a KTM 1290 Super Adventure S , at 1215 kg and all the power needed (160 bhp) a nice TFT screen and a wonderful electronic package. Remains to be seen whether I'll live to regret this move. Thanks to Coconut, someone who gives a lot and takes very little. Ride safe everyone and enjoy the new year. Stephen

Enjoy your trip! Sorry you had to give up the Trophy. Let us know how the KTM works for you.

I guess you meant 215kg, not 1215 kg. It remains to be seen whether I fall in love with this new Trophy. My old 1200cc four cylinder felt a lightweight by comparison to this one. This new one is "awkward" at very slow speeds. Mind, she's easy enough to get on to the centre stand.

Lamin, all the very best with your new Katoom. Hoping it serves you both on your tour of Greece. Don't be a stranger, lets know how you fare with the KTM. Cheers from "down under".

Bike weight is a funny subject.
My new Trophy feels light compared to the BMW K1600GTL I sold in June.
Then again, I don’t feel the same when I jump onto it from my R1200GS.
That KTM will feel like a rocket ship by comparison.
I just hope the Mrs. will adapt to the loss of wind protection, and you will be able to cope with lubing and adjusting the chain.
All bikes are a compromise.
Enjoy your new one!

I get where you are coming from with the weight. Let us know how you like the KTM.

Don't look back, they say. But for me the future is Orange and as I'll be seventy soon I'd like to have just a few more years biking. Here's hoping.
