Does anybody have information or experience in comparing a Russell All Day seat versus Laam seats.  I am going to have my factory seat sent out to one of the two and am interested in your opinions.

I believe you are referring to the Russell Day Long seat.  I have one and it's been the best investment that I've made for my Trophy.  I did the 50CC Gold run from Coney Island to the Golden Gate Bridge in 46 hrs and the only thing that didn't hurt was my ass.  I have no experience with Laam.  In fact, I've never heard of them.  Most serious IBA riders go with the Russell.

I have had Corbin, thin TTSE stock seat, thick heated TTSE seat and the RDL seats beats them hands down. Did 3500 miles in 6 days and butt never hurt at all. Never heard of Lamm. Is he in Florida? I sent one of my Concours seats and had it redone with someone there but don’t remember his name. Wasn’t to impressed.

Thanks for the reply.  I suspected the Russell seat was the way to go.  Laam is a small custom seat company located in Redding, California.  I have read several positive reviews and that motivated me to ask the question here in the Forum.

There are several "Russell"-like spinoffs out there.  In my rough recollection of the history of the seat, the original design was created by the father of the Mayer family.  The key component are the spring steel support 'wings' that cup and support the butt.  Daddy Mayer sold the design to Russell but he continued to make his own seats.  Russell patented the spring steel supports and got an order to force Mayer to stop fabricating seats.  The Mayer sons, Bill and Rick, continued the custom seat business by building seats with 'wings' but did not include the springs.  I had a Rick Mayer seat on my Rocket and liked it but it didn't have the same support as the Russell.  Since Lamm is near the Russell plant, I suspect that he might be a former employee trying to do his own thing.  Probably a good seat but I can't see it being the same as the Russell.

Agreed.  I am convinced to stay with the Russell.  I appreciate the history and detail to help me make my decision.  I plan on doing this in January.

I have the Russell sport seat and really like it.  I can ride all day with no discomfort.

I have never heard anything negative about the Russell seat.
