    Reflective/Hi-Viz Paniers

    Hi All,

After a long search for something to make my Trophy easier to see from the rear in both daylight and nightlight conditions I found a company that put this together for me. The blue and white are both reflective.  Total cost about $90 Canadian ... covered the design, preparation and installation. The picture was taken in January of 2019 and is looking south east towards Mount Cheam near Chilliwack, BC on the west coast of Canada.

    best regards, Shemogolee

Don’t quote me, but I believe any color of reflective tape other than red is illegal in the U.S. on the rear of a vehicle.

I have added strips of 3M red reflective tape to my panniers, and have received positive feedback on the added visibility at night.

    Hi ST,

Thanks for the input. I sure hope that’s not the case as I travel often in the U.S. I did hours of research for restrictions in my home province and the only restrictions in the Motor Vehicle Act relate to the colour of vehicle lights, not reflective materials. There is a section on reflective markings for trucks but nothing for other vehicles.

I’ll let you know if the police departments in Washington State (or other U.S. jurisdictions I ride in) take offence with my markings 😢

    best regards, Shemogolee

I would be very interested if you could find a citation for this.  I have never heard of any type of law regarding reflective tape.

I've only been able to find this regarding truckers.  White and red are allowed on the rear of trucks.

Got to say that is a beautiful picture.
Everything that I have found so far has been in reguard to lights. Nothing on reflective stickers, decals or such. But there is always someone that wants to be that guy.

There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.

It may very well have been a regulation regarding trucks that I had recalled regarding the reflective tape.

Does this make me “that guy”?  :005:
