My co-workers are always teasing me about adding stuff to my bikes and never being satisfied but I think I'm finally done with farkles for my Trophy.

Looking forward to a lot of miles and fun times over the next few years on this bike.  :002:

Stuff I've added over the past year or so:
    • Triumph Top Case
    • Triumph Heated seats (rider and passenger)
    • Triumph Heated grips
    • R&G Adventure bars
    • Delkevic slip-on
    • Garmin GPS (and Triumph GPS mount)
    • Denali auxiliary lights
    • Knee pads for protecting the body work
    • Reflective decals for the side and top cases (rear visibility)
    • Ram mount for my GoPro

I don’t know how many motorcycles I quickly sold in my younger years, just because they didn’t fit me properly. It is so great that the internet has been able to offer us so many options to make a motorcycle “ours”!

On the other hand, in my case, it seems like I am never completely finished farkling a motorcycle...  :006:

I'm done but for a completely different reason.

As a lot of you know I went through a 6 or 7-week service issue last year with my 2016 Trophy. They replaced the alternator and some other parts.

Recently, over the last 2 months, my bike has been stalling so I took it in for the 40K service and all but 2 valves were severely out of spec. My bike has been in the shop for 2 weeks and I was just notified yesterday that I have a leaky intake manifold and they had to order parts. That means I am without my bike for another 1-2 weeks, minimum. Oh, and my windscreen mechanism still malfunctions after being "repaired", my cruise control stopped working, and I constantly get the Low Voltage warning.

Unless Triumph comes through in a big way on this, as in taking the Trophy off my hands and putting me into a bike that can stay on the road, I am done with Triumph and will be moving to BMW.

I am tired of my services taking 4-6 weeks, it's ridiculous! I'm on the bike every day, it's my main transpo, so being without it hurts and is very inconvenient. Triumph has a chance to save face here but it's in their court and what happens through this determines if I go Tiger or GSA this year.

Sorry to hear about the issues you're having with your Trophy Mike2411. I think I would be at the point of shopping for a different brand if I were in the same situation.

Last time I had a bike that spent more time in the shop than on the road I took a $3k hit trading it in on another bike just so I could actually ride again.

When I bought my Trophy the only other bike that I considered was the R1200RT so if you liked your Trophy while it runs you'll probably like the BMW.

Thanks, BigPoppa. I have ridden the RT, the 2018 GSA, the 2019 GSA, and the 2018 Tiger 1200 XCA. I liked the Tiger best but, like you, I need a bike that stays on the road. It wouldn't be a big deal if I had the ability to take my bike in for service and ride away on a Tiger loaner but there is no loaner program and if they are discussing one, it will probably be a long way off. With BMW I can take a GSA in for service and ride off on a current year loaner GSA, no questions asked. That is what makes the BMW experience so good. I have never been a BMW guy but after this experience with Triumph, I am seriously considering the move over. I am getting an adventure bike this year, and that bike was going to be the Tiger but now I'm not too sure about that.

The 2019 GSA with the new motor, 1250, is really nice but there is something about that bike that is difficult for me to be excited about. When I rode the Tiger I wanted more but when I ride the GSA I can walk away and not feel super hyped about it. But, I would rather have a really good ADV bike that has great support than a really good ADV bike that has very little support. I can definitely get used to the GSA and learn to love it as opposed to going with the Tiger and chancing long service intervals, being without my bike for weeks at a time, all over again...not really a fan of that option!
