    There I was...

There I was, homeward bound, on the return leg from Orange, Texas - less than 150 miles to home.  I'm pretty sure it was an orange cone, I felt a bump, saw a flash of orange and then another bump off the toe of my left boot.  I'm not sure if it fell off a vehicle, was already in the road or was kicked up by a vehicle...  In any case, after a roadside assessment, it appears that the fender and front of the bike failed to maintain its structural integrity at a molecular level - or something like that...

Oh yeah, and just to make sure my day was complete, I picked up a really big screw in the rear tire.

Nothing seemed to be hanging off or flapping around so I patched the tire and got on the road again.  Unfortunately, I didn't get far when the tire patch failed.  Stopped again, pulled into a fast food parking lot.  The Trophy is certainly difficult to get up on its center stand when there is no air in the rear tire.  I asked a couple of guys in the parking lot to help me get it up on the center stand - nice fellas.  Got it patched again and homeward bound - the patch held.  Potentially, completed a BBG with 6 minutes to spare...

The phrase "oh cock" comes to mind...
There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.

brenchley. Good to read you got the BBG finished with "HEAPS" of time left. Look up Australian Headlight Protectors here in Australia and get one for your Trophy. I always factor in an extra hour into the ride time to cover the likely hood of a puncture. Hope your next IBA ride goes to plan without the extra complications thrown into the equation.  :821: :158:

I looked at AMHP headlight protectors - I'm not sure they would have helped.  The object hit my fender hard enough to crack it and then it appeared to have come up and struck the molding under the headlamp - it appears that impact is where most of the damage came from, it cracked the housing. It didn't continue up and over the fairing, it came across and down and struck my left boot. To look at the damage, I think the object would have just driven through a protector at the velocity and angle it struck.  The headlights don't appear to have been hit square on.

In any case, thanks for the suggestion...

On a happier note I received my notification of award for my BBG tonight.

So the important things are happening, that's the main thing. All others can be either fixed or forgotten.  :745: :745:

Yep!  The good stuff is documented.  In the meantime, the dealer is planning on replacing the headlight assembly, the front fender, the lower LH panel, the upper RH panel and the molding under the headlamp.  I'm waiting to hear whether the parts are readily available.
