Hi, I read about your struggle. I don't have any experience with DealerTool, but I do a lot of cars diagnostic tools based on PC (Windows 7, 10). Most of these tools have self testing facility, which allows you to check the connection to PC and the vehicle via OBD interface. I don't know if DealTool has this function. Dealertool should also be recognized by PC. You should see it in Windows , My Computer , Properties. Can you see it?

    Hi there.
I had a similar windows 10 issue with dealertool.

When I returned to their software download page I found installation instructions.
And in there is the very issue you have and I had to solve the port problem.

    Hope this helps.

I went thru a similar issue just a couple weeks back, but on my Windows 8.1 machine. The issue turned out to be completely my fault, I had connected the wrong OBDII USB adapter, so it wouldn't work with DT. Also, not sure if this was checked or not, but make sure DT is set to use the same comms port as shown in your Device Manager for the adapter. I think once I finally got the right one connected on mine it was assigned comms port 3, so then I went into DT settings and made sure that was selected. As soon as I did that it connected and had no issues communicating with the Trophy.

Experiencing problems again, no doubt to Microsoft and their bloody recent update. :233:

So far the only option I'm seeing when I open the dealertool options window is COM1, there is no other COM port to select,...it use to be COM5 which worked.

PS. Under the device manger tab, I'm seeing "PL203HXA phased out since 2012.

I haven't even tried again since a month or two ago. Expect to have the same issue when I do though. 😀

I tested just last week with a new laptop running the latest version of Win 10 Pro with all updates; I had no issues.

.... no doubt to Microsoft and their recent update ....

    You were warned !  :164:

    TIPS :
Disable automatic Windows updates, as this can also result in the incorrect Windows Drivers being re-installed.
With Windows Updates set to "manual", you can Ignore any that come up for the Prolific USB Port.

How long can you get away with ignoring Windows updates for realistically? It looks like it went through a pretty major update last time? Don't get me wrong, I hate that they keeping changing things but for the safety of buying on line/credit card details etc, you got to move to the new/latest system.

I've just dug my old, battery knackered XP laptop out, that will never be connected to the net, thankfully dealertool connects to the bike via that no problem.
