    50,000 miles service cost?

I have checked the search function but can't find anything specific to 50,000 mile service. When I get back from WAW in a couple of months it will be due. I have quotes from 3 Triumph dealers with the best (?) being £890 !!! Has anyone else had a 50k service from a dealer and is this price just taking the Mickey (cleaned that up  :001:).

I agree. 890 quid for a oil change, filter change, and airfilter change with a reset on the service indicator. Seriously, get yourself a dealertool, 40 quids worth of oil, a filter of about 15 pounds, airfilters go for about 40 pounds and save yourself about 700 pounds.

If they were going to check/adjust the camshaft timing and valves, lubricate the headstock bearings etc, that price wouldn't be so bad I guess. Personally I don't trust any of them to do a proper job, most mechanics are pressed for time, bikes like this one needs a lot of stripping before you even get to some items.

    Hi Phil
Might just take you up on Robin Hoods bay, let me know when you will be there. You are only 8 miles from Ravenscar, the village that never was50k service is one of the minor ones (no valve clearance check). Seems a bit dear to me.

You can find the Service Schedule in your Owners Handbook,
or download a version ( without the known errors ) from the Forum here :
Servicing data, Reference Info. & DTC ( Fault ) Codes ...
Go to the First Post in that Topic and you'll see the Service Schedule Download Link ( and others ).

At 50,000 miles your Trophy "should" have had :

    Initial 500 Mile Service
    10,000 mile Service
    20,000 mile Service
    Next 10,000 mile Service
    Next 20,000 mile Service
and will now be due for the next 10,000 mile Service.

Depending on the age of your Trophy it may also have had some
additional Annual "Interim" Services, or be due some of the items
Scheduled for every 2 or 3 years irrespective of mileage.
    ( e.g. Brake Fluid & Coolant renewal ).

Assuming the Valve clearances WERE checked at the last 20,000 mile Service,
have a look at the Schedule for the 10,000 Miles Service to see what ineeds to be done.

    Cheers  :821:

At 50,000 they also change the fork oil. Still... that does seem a tad expensive!

    Hi gfxmonkey,

Have you seen that on a Service Schedule somewhere ?

On the versions I've seen, ( Owners Handbook Versions 1 & 2 and Service Manual )
the fork oil is specified to be changed at the 40,000 mile service ?

    Cheers  :821:

Hi Coconut, mine was done at 50,000 rather than 40,000. Might just be me.
