:152:I am a new member to this site! From Courtenay, Vancouver Island. Recently bought a 2016 Trophy se phantom Black :017:
Upgrading from a 2003 Triumph sprint st. because of comfort but keeping the power and handling. So far very happy with this decision! Taking a little of getting used to the weight difference. This year is going to be a great touring year :152:
I have been searching a lot on the web finding out if there has been any major issues with this TTSE. I haven't found any!
The only thing I notice that the engine seems to more noisier than my Sprint. Any takes on this?

Welcome Markus, and best wishes with your upgrade! I too came from a Sprint ST, and after my initial test ride on the Trophy, I told the dealer there was something amiss (it sounded like a mix between a diesel and a sewing machine to me). I bought the 2013 model, and have since traded in for a 2017, with no mechanical problems at all. The Sprint has a much more prominent and enjoyable exhaust note when compared to the Trophy. My impression is that the mechanical engine noises of the Trophy are amplified by the fairings, combined with a more subdued exhaust noise. You'll soon get used to the new sound, and enjoy the Trophy for all it's other attributes (and no chain to maintain!)

Hi Markus and :400: to the Club !

Of course, there have been some issues with the Trophy -
show me any new Motorcycle Model that hasn't had any !

Don't be put off when you read about some of them in here though -
It's partly what Forums are for, and they usually only affect the minority,
while the majority have no issues at all.

Another thing that the Forum is really good at, is helping Members to identify
and resolve any problems, such as in these Reference Topics :

What to look for when Buying a Pre-Owned ( Used ) Trophy SE

    and ...

HOW TO : Check the most common faults & issues.

    Cheers  :821:

Hi Markus, welcome. I came from an ST1100 which was whisper quiet even after 120k, but that's a Honda! The Trophy is louder, but nothing to worry about. Bit heavy, but no chain like your last ride. The only minor irritations are some bike have had problems with a tight wiring loom to the ignition switch and the gear lever pivot bolt can give bother

Markus, congratulations on your acquisition, and  :401:

As previously mentioned, the engine sounds louder due to the added wind protection and subdued exhaust.

You will most likely quickly get used to it, but if not, there are plenty of aftermarket mufflers available to “quiet that engine”!  :005:

:400: to the forum.  It's unlikely you will have any major issues on the 2016.
