Audio Software update
« on: June 12, 2019, 09:36:15 PM »
I am wondering if anyone has approached triumph directly to ask why the software update that seems to be crucial to a related battery drain is not considered an recall on the trophy? It’s an automatic recall on any vehicle that requires it with no charge. The dealer tells me that they have not received a notice of a recall when it comes to an update and will charge to have this done. Any feedback would be welcome. Thanks

Hi Woody123,

Some problems aren't considered serious enough to merit a Recall,
unless they have affected a certain percentage of the total Production,
or have resulted in injury, or potential injury, or the Manufacturer
are advised by respective Authorities to do so.

In the case of the Audio Software, I can't really see how it could be classed as a Safety Recall,
and has been dealt with by Triumph by way of a Service Notification to it's Dealer Network.

Unfortunately that process requires Dealers to take time out to READ such Notifications, and not all do.

Triumph are usually quite approachable and understanding in this area,
and despite Batteries only being Warrantied for 12 months, they have been known
to replace Batteries out of Warranty that can be shown to have failed as a result of
draining excessively, due to the faulty original software version.

If your Dealer refuses to carry out the update free of charge then I would do two things :

1) Find another Dealer ( Appreciate this may not be convenient due to the distances involved ),
2) Contact and complain to Triumph Head Office.
In the US the email address is tma.aftersales@triumphmotorcycles.com
and in the UK it's after.sales@triumph.co.uk

If you have no joy with any of the above, let me know and I'll see what else I can do to help.  :028:

Cheers  :821:

Thanks for that. Unfortunately the only dealer closest to me at this time is 270 Kim’s away. I will try to reach out to Triumph directly. Thanks for the email address. Appreciate it!

The Software Update being referred to is for the Trophy Audio System
of US & Canadian export models.

I will modify the Topic Title for clarity and move it
to the Audio, Sat Nav and Intercom Section of the Forum.

Why has no one posted the firmware?    Where can I find it?

Thank you
Craig

No-one has Posted the Software Update because Triumph have not released it for Public use.

Triumph have Copyright of the Update, and the Forum does not allow for the sharing
of such material on the Forum, as it would be in breach of that Copyright.

Any authorised Triumph Dealer can apply the Update, and you should be able
to convince them not to charge for this, as it is a required Update to correct an issue
with the original software version.

I did previously suggest to Triumph that they make the Update available to Owners via their Web Portal,
especially for such cases where, fpor examply in the US Market, Owners may live hundreds or thousands
of miles away from a Dealer, which they could control by use of VIN Numbers to prevent unauthorised use.
Their response was that this "might be something they would consider for the future".  :027:

Try :

Triumph Detroit
47488 Van Dyke Avenue ,
Shelby Township MI,
United States of America ,
48317

Phone 586-726-7400

There's another - West of Detroit at Brighton.
