Yea, 6, 11, 60 and 70 out of 91 still going.  All four are still in it.  Good luck to those riders.  It sure sounds like they are having a tough go of it.  If you're interested, see http://ibr.wvi.com/

Hoovooloo and those other members following the IBR [big dance] will also note that Peter Green [on a Trophy] is an ex-pat Aussie now living in US. He also had to call for help right as the riders were being sent off at the start. Bike wouldn't start. A quick use of a battery pack/jump starter did the trick and he was on his way.
On another note a couple of FarRider/IBA members here in Aussie have just finished a two up ride round highway 1 in under 9 days [over 15 thousand kilometres]. The interesting thing was when they stopped for their second fuel up on the first day [early AM time] the 2010 BMW R1200RT wouldn't start. They had been running two sets of Warm and Safe heated gear [sox, pants, jacket and gloves] plus 4 Clearwater Erica lights plus all the normal extra gear [GPS, Spot, and normal head/tail and dash lights]. The problem was over running the alternator output. Bike was started with a small jump starter attached to the battery.
At least Trophy riders won't have that problem with the huge alternator output on this bike.  :158:

The final results of the IBR are in. And it was good to see all the Trophy's that started finished.
Out of 102 starters, 71 finished, 25 DNF's and the remainder dropped out for one or more reasons.
8th. place.    Paul Meyer        2015 Trophy.   11,810 miles. 124,884 points.
                       22nd. "         Peter Green       2013     "        13,314    "      111,837    "
                       55th.  "         James Epley       2015    "        10,040    "      88,274      "
                       65th.  "         Don Duck           2014    "        8,886      "      83,944      "

Of the 5 Australian,s that started only Margaret Peart  [DNF]
                        37th. place     Ian McPhee    2000 BMW R1100 RT 11781 miles. 101,676 pts.
                        63rd.    "   Martin Little/Rebecca McCallum 2007 BMW R1200RT 8,549 miles 84,607 points
                        64th.    "    Jeffrey Gebler 2010 Honda Goldwing  9,844 miles  84,590 points
The full details are available on the IBA site. Very well done to all those that completed this most difficult rally, taking riders into Alaska and south as far as Key West. To remain focused for eleven days of riding [including sleep bonus points] is truly amazing.  :046: :046: :046: :046:

Are any of the IBR Trophy riders members here?  I would really like to hear the stories and pick their minds.  I just can't imagine the challenges and issues that come up during an event like this.  I've been seriously considering getting involved with Iron Butt rides, but am not sure how to best get involved.  I've read Brian Walters book and found it informative.  He spoke of small rides like Butt Lite and other shorter rallies.  He also spoke of planning tools but didn't give specifics other than Base Camp and Excel.

I have not finished the IBR but I’ve done many long distance rallies and a few certificate rides. I finished 4th last year in Buttlite. I can probably answer any questions you have.

I know that James Epley is a member here and he finished the IBR on Friday.
