New member looking for a new tourer
« on: June 19, 2019, 05:58:51 PM »
Hello all!  I've been riding for 40 years, I currently have a Triumph Roadster and a Harley Road Glide.  I had the Harley, and was looking to do engine work to bump up the torwque a couple years ago.  After realizing that the bike would need about 5-7k in upgrades to most of the systems, I opted to buy a Rocket 3 Roadster instead.  After a couple years of riding the Rocket 3, the Harley has become less and less a pleasure to ride.  So, I've been looking at replacing the Road glide with something more refined for touring, and the Trophy SE is on my short list.  Hoping to get lots of good information from the forum to make my decision.  Thanks all!!!!

Hi mhboldt and :400: to the Forum !

This is certainly the right place to find out about the Trophy,
so have a Browse around and play with the SEARCH Button,
ask for anything you can't find by starting a New Topic
in whichever Section is relevant, but the absolutely best thing you can do
is to find one that you can TEST RIDE !  :169:

Cheers  :821:

Welcome to the frey.  Glad to see another Chicago area rider.  There are a few of us around the area.  I'm down in Crestwood.

Welcome!  Boy, that Chicago clan keeps growing!  Coconut says it best.  Find a test ride, and bring your wallet.  Best of luck in your search!

First off, Welcome  :401:
I am a new owner of a 17 Trophy SE Black Betty. I have had her since Jan of this year and have put 6K on the clock (she had 1500 on the clock when I rode her home)
The bike is a joy to ride. I love that triple sound and the way she handles. The ergos are great for me at 5'10". 1000 mile days are easy on her.
My only issues are the lack of aftermarket support, and the lack of triumph support. It seems like some things are just always out of stock and very expensive when they are in stock. If you plan on accessorizing the bike that can be a issue. If you plan on riding her as she is then it is awesome.

I find the Trophy to have a nice mix of toys comfort and power for touring.
