    EBC Brake Rotors

This is my first post to this forum.  I purchased my 2013 TTSE in December.  I've read lots of valuable information on a variety of topics from this group.  Thanks in advance for your advice.

In an effort to finally fix the front brake pulsation, I'm looking to replace the front rotors and pads before my trip around the Great Lakes in August.

cleaning and spinning the bobbins didn't work...
I'm leaning toward NOT putting OEM rotors back on because I don't want a repeat of what I currently am experiencing.
I would like to find EBC rotors but I'm not having any luck (other than in Europe).  Pads I can find, not so much on the rotors.

Does anyone have a source they could recommend?  Or is there another brand of brake rotors that you like enough to recommend?  I'm located in the U.S.

    Thanks!

From the EBC website the front sportbike "VEE" rotors are
    VR817BLU
On ebay from a US seller for $120/ea
These are blue hub, and BLK (black) GLD (gold), and RED are the suffixes for different colors.  Didn't check availability on other colors than blue.

Standard MD817X Street rotor (Gold hub only on their website)
On ebay from a US seller for $213.69/ea

MD817XC Wavy rotor (Gold hub only on their website)
On ebay from a US seller for $223.20/ea

    I don't see a problem.
    Hope this helps.

Hi Mikey,  Welcome to the forum!   :401:

I found myself in the exact same situation you described, and I bought some EBC front rotors and pads. I've been pretty satisfied with them. By that I mean, they aren't "Honda smooth," but they are tremendously better than my OEMs were. When I first put them on, I was continuously aware that they weren't perfectly smooth, but I'm used to them now, and I never even think about them anymore. My Yamaha Super Tenere's brakes ARE Honda smooth, but even jumping back and forth between the two bikes, I don't notice the EBCs. I bought the wavy ones (MD817XC), but other than appearance, I don't think there's any operational difference between the two. Buy the cheapest. Here's links to both rotors on Amazon. Just google EBC817XC or EBC817X and you'll find other suppliers in the states.

If you buy some, report back and let us know what you think of them.

I bought a set of 3 EBC rotors last year after 72000 miles got the originals down to the wear limit. After about 3000 miles they started to shudder a bit, but I persevered thinking they may have got better, but didn't. I had them replaced under the EBC    1 yr warranty and have done about 3k mls on them so far without problem

I just bought a pair of EBC:s to replace the original warped front rotors. I've only done a few kilometres on them yet and they are still a bit rough, but they really improved the braking experience.  :002: I'm no longer afraid when braking at low speed. With the old rotors, the bike almost rocked (or jumped) to a stop.

I have almost 30,000 miles on my 2013 Trophy and I've hated my front brakes for the last 20k. You can read about my experience here - https://www.triumph-trophy.com/index.php/topic,9451.0.html

I replaced the original front discs and rotors at 27,xxx miles. I've put almost 3k on the EBC pads and rotors now and while the pulsing hasn't returned, there is a definite vibration in the calipers. It's very odd. I can feel the pulsing coming up through the bike while I brake, but the lever feels smooth. That and the brakes have developed a squeal once they heat up. If I brake lightly, no squeal. If I brake HARD, no squeal. If I brake normally coming to a stop, it has a high pitched squeal. VERY annoying! I don't know what to do at this point because I love the bike, but the front brakes are driving me insane!!!

I just found a set of new 'vee' EBC rotors in blue for $99 each. I"ll report in whenever I have a chance to swap these on.

How did you get a disk for the rear wheel? Going by my searches and what my local bike shop said, EBC don't make the rears for this bike??
