Question on Triumph OEM Sat mount
    on: Aug 04, 2019, 11.34 pm
    Aug 04, 2019, 11.34 pm
Should be taking delivery of bike within a couple of weeks and am planning on upgrades including R and G bars, horn, speakers, winsheild and Sat mount, which I would like to accomplish in one fell swoop, since it involves fairing dash removals.
My question is 1. Will the Triumph OEM mount accept any GPS unit and 2. Does the OEM mount come with wiring, so that if I purchased a GPS unit, say a month down the road, fairing and panel removal would not be needed or would I need the unit at iniall install of mount?
    Thanks  in advance! :016:

The Triumph Sat Nav Bracket is just that - a bracket.

The US Version includes an additional plate onto which the XM Satellite Antenna is mounted.
( It is usually mounted underneath the Instrument Panel surround and is re positioned
to make room for the Bracket to be fixed in place ).

The mounting face of the Sat Nav bracket has four holes that are of a standard spacing
for many Sat Nav mounting cradles, but is designed specifically for the Garmin 660 etc.

NO Wiring is provided with the bracket.
Wiring will vary depending on the type of cradle used for any particular Sat Nav device.

The wiring to your Sat Nav has to pass through the Triumph Sat Nav bracket,
so it's best to fit the wiring and bracket all at the sane time.

I haven't been a member of this forum long but, there would be a LOT of unanswered questions and people in a pickle without your input Cocoanut. Were you involved with designing this bike or something?:033:
    Thanks!
So now, Garmin or Tom Tom.....leaning towards the Tom Tom, input?

    Absolutely NOT !

I don't work for Triumph, and never have done, and I've never even been to the Factory or Visitor Centre !

I'm a Trophy Owner - I had one of the very first Launch Models,
and I now own one of the very last ones produced.

Along the lines of the mount, I have a California model withe Sirius/XM antenna.  Because I'm not thrilled with the radio speakers and because I have a Sena headset with an FM tuner, I rely on that for tunes and calls.  If I remove the XM antenna, is it possible to use the Triumph GPS mount?  For reference, I have a Montana and I realize I will hae to use an adapter mount to run electrical to the unit.

    Hi THRASHED,

I'm not sure I fully understand your question, but if it helps, the US Version of the Triumph GPS Mount
includes an additional "shelf" onto which the Satellite Radio antenna is re-positioned,
( it obstructs installation of the GPS Mount in it's original position ), highlighted in the below Image :

You can download the fitting instructions here :

    Triumph Instructions.com

Enter the Part Number A9828011, then click the Flag for the Country
representing the language you require the instructions to be in.

    Cheers  :821:

Whereas, I still own a Launch model along with the latest. Sadly this situation can't continue  :002:

Thanks, Coconut.  I was going to do away with the XM antenna but I think using the factory mount would look much cleaner.  Thanks for the info and the link for the directions. I haven't picked up a mechanic's manual for this bike yet.
