    Rear Seat Lock Sticking

This is a bit embarrassing, but my pillion seat doesn't want to unlock.  I'm sure I'm missing something that's painfully obvious.

When I go to unlock it, the lock doesn't seem to want to turn.  I'm scared to death of snapping the key off in the lock, and I'm sure it shouldn't take that much force to unlock it anyway.  Thoughts?

Mine's been very snug as well. I put a little pressure up-and-down at the back of the pillion seat while trying to turn the key, and it usually turns as soon as the pressure on the latch is released.

Like thogland says - Pressing DOWN on the seat seems to relieve the pressure on the latch.

    Also - ( cue Egg Sucking lesson for Grannie ! ..... )
Make sure you turn the Key the correct way - Anti-Clockwise about 1/8 turn.  :169:

    Cheers  :821:

The key/lock doesn't really turn much period does it? Well not on my bike.
It's just another area of the bike that needs a dab of grease and spray of oil from time to time. :002:

Would that be my left, or my other left?   :008:

Thogland had the right idea.  There was a bit of pressure on the lock from the seat.  I just had to jiggle it around a bit to relieve the pressure so the lock would turn.

I can understand that some folk don't get anti clockwise etc or really have to think about it before they understand.

When you are at the rear of the bike, facing the number plate, turn the key to the left. :002:
