IPod 16GB

Dandrumheller wrote "I'm far from an apple fan myself.  I thinl the catering is due to apples market saturation and only having to support one OEM, versus all the different manufacturers and customized versions of Android.

I normally run tunes to the bike from my phone (either streaming or locally stored) but have a USB stick in the fairing cubby just in case.  TBH navigating the stick with more than a few albums on it sucks.  As far as I can tell, you can only cycle through folders going one direction (alphabetical a-z) and it will dive down the folder tree as it goes.  Songs forward/back but also alphabetical within folder.  Don't know if it's doing this by mp3 tags or file name.  Display shows artist and song.  No shuffling.

All my music is folderized by artist then album.  I'm gonna wear out the preset button on the switch pod when I want to get to Rush...

I haven't tried it yet but I think the best way to use the stick is have like maybe 3 or 4 folders that are effectively "playlists" and then put individual songs directly in those folders.  Lots of time needed to do this if you have more than a small collection"

Dan, I do find the USB stick to be the simplest solution for music on the go, but I agree the inability to move from album to album is a bit of a pain. However, . I just let the music scroll through track by track, skipping those I'm not in the mood for.  I'm no fan of any Apple products (apart from Beatles music LOL) so I won't be getting an I Pod for the Trophy

I have an Pod Touch, but since converting to a DAB Radio that utilises the USB port,
I just put my favourite tracks onto a Memory Card inserted in my Garmin Zumo 595
and play then from there ( when I'm not listening to Planet Rock Radio ! ).

It's a very basic player on the Garmin, no Playlists or selecting an Album or Artist etc,
I think it just plays the tracks in the order they are stored on the Micro SD Card.

Cheers  :821:

Cheers Coconut, same as the USB card in the stowage compartment slot then. I'll just leave it as is then. Is there a reason why you don't use that slot rather than the Sat nav capability? I would have thought using the handlebar audiocontrols would be simpler (even safer if on the move) than using the Sat Nav touch screen?

Had to look up DAB radio......learn something new everyday! :169:
Oh, and "Fixings" means screws/bolts!

Here in the south US, fixins' is something you put on your biscuits, like gravy! :033:

After seeing Coconuts post saying the Garmin doesn't show playlist, laning towards the 32gb ipod touch $200, 128gb $300 (one of the reasons I'm not an apple fan, they don't charge more for a better product, they charge more for storage capability with no sd card slot option) in order to use the Trophys screen to view playlist, scroll through and select songs.
