    Heated Grips Turned to Mush

I looked, but haven't seen this topic discussed before.  The left hand grip rubber has started disintegrating, turning into a gooey mess.  It's left black rubber streaks on the clutch lever and anything else I touched with that gloved hand.  I was able to pull the rubber off the plastic tube that has the wires on it, and slide the original non-heated grip rubber back on.  It's not an exact fit because the heated rubber grip has slots on either end that the flange on the plastic tube fits into.  The fit is good enough though.  Anyone else have this problem?

Is the degrading grip a genuine Triumph product or aftermarket?

I've never heard of that before.

Is there any possibility that some sort of contaminant came into contact with the rubber,
e.g. Has the Clutch Fluid been changed recently - could some have been spilt onto the Grip ?

What is the condition of the heated grip on the Brake lever side ?

I've heard that it can get extremely hot in Texas but wow, rubber being affected like that? Surely it must be down to something else??

No degradation of heated grips here in the heat and humidity of Florida.  They don't get much use, though.

Not that I’m aware of. The throttle side is soft too, but not to the same degree. I had the same thing happen to the OEM grips on a Harley.

Mine became soft and the left grip felt like it was coming loose.  Installed Grip Puppies over the top.. There ... I fixed it...
