Electricity matters

So I have been getting the suspension error often. Also, the radio off power message. The bike has been running semi rough and just not right. It seems to chock on higher revs above 6000rpm. Finally I had the radio on and other stuff and the bike just clicked on pushing the start button. The battery read at 12.9v. It was in spec. I turned everything off and she started. With the roughness and chocking I was about to take her in to the dealer.  I began to suspect the battery. I changed out the stock battery 270ca lead acid battery for a LION battery with 360ca. She started  right up now. Now no more errors. She is running so smooth and no longer chocking above 6000 rpm. This is the bike I have been reading about. I thought the one I bought was defective. Well the battery was. I also swapped out the front tire for a Angel GT II. Now the bike feels great. Runs smooth, and she sounds better. It feels like the bike had been in rain mode and now she is in sport mode. Yes I know this bike has none of that but it is how the bike feels now. Incredible what a new battery can do. I installed a Battery Tender LION battery with emergency start. It is 10lbs lighter and made a great difference. Anyway I just thought I would share my experiences.

In case someone may be interested in replacing the battery, this Gel, for our motorcycles, is phenomenal.

are you both saying that our bikes are voltage sensitive? At 1,000 RPM idle, my headlight and dash lights continuously flicker brighter/dimmer/brighter/dimmer, and the bike computer will disable the audio. However, the bike starts and runs fine. Do I need a higher idle speed, a new alternator, or just a better battery?

No, clean the main fuse above the battery well. or replacing it and when it can change the harness that goes from the starter, battery and alternator.

I think that all modern vehicles have become voltage sensitive to be fair, it's a crazy situation, why use more and more ECU's on something that has to live outdoors/deal with vibration etc?

OK, fuel injection were an improvement over carbs, early versions of that were the best in my mind, run by a simple computer shall we say, no plug in diagnostic unit needed to reset a problem, just disconnect battery for 10 minutes. Lol

On my 2016 [current] model I still have the original battery [70 thousand kilometres] fitted. From day one I have had the bike attached to a battery tender when not being ridden. Never had any problems starting at all. Just saying. I realise that some members don't have the privilege of having a worh shop to keep their Trophy stored in out of the weather.  :821: :158:

I am also on the original battery (2014 SE).  the bike only has 12000km on it though.  But I do pull the battery every fall and put it on a tender until the spring when I reinstall it.  The battery is kept in an unheated garage, but on a charger.
