Fix Kit, Alarm, S4 - A9800075 not available anymore
    on: Jan 09, 2020, 07.05 pm
    Jan 09, 2020, 07.05 pm
    Hello everyone,

I have a Triumph Alarm that I confirmed with Triumph and Datatool is fully compatible with my Trophy. Unfortunately I got the alarm without a specific fixing kit for the Trophy (Fix Kit, Alarm, S4 - A9800075), that unfortunetly is now unable to be ordered anymore :(

Does anyone have an idea what I can do? I already tried to contact Dtatool about this with no luck.
I really will not like to stay with a working alarm I can not use because no fixing kit is available although the complete Trophy alarm is still available...

    Thanks in advance
    Best Regards
    Ricardo

    Hi Ricardo,

If both Triumph AND Datatool have been unable to help,
then I think it is very unlikely you will be able to find a replacement Fitting Kit.

However, in case you are able to find alternative parts,
here is a list of what is included in the original Fitting Kit :

    1.  Mounting Bracket - A Plastic bracket that fits around the body of the Alarm,
and which sits in the slightly recessed band around the central portion of the Alarm.
    It is approximately 19mm wide.

    2.  Tamper Proof Connection Box ( Not shown ).
This is simply an ABS Plastic box inside which the Trophy Wiring Harness Socket
and the Alarm Plug are housed after being connected together.
The cover of the box is then secured with screws,
and the screw holes are then fitted with "Tamper Proof" covers.

    3.  Mounting Screws ( M5 ) x 2

    4.  "Well Nuts" ( M5 ) x2 - These are an expanding type of rubber mounting -
pushed into the two Mounting holes of the Trophy frame, which expand
into the holes so they become secure as the screws are tightened,
providing a cushioned mounting to help eliminate false alarms from the Shock sensor
due to the effects of wind, and expansion / contraction of parts after the bike is parked.
Similar to these : Amazon.co.uk - Search "Well Nuts"

In addition to the main Alarm Unit, there is a Magnetic Reed switch
where the Magnet is affixed to the underside of the Pillion Seat,
and the wired switch is connected to a fly lead from the Alarm Unit.

The alarm will then activate, when set, if the rear Seat is removed.

If you don't have one, a suitable replacement is available here :
    Elite Motorcycle Services.

Fitting instructions, which may also provide further help in determining alternative parts to use,
can be downloaded from the Triumph web site, by entering the Alarm Part No. ( A9808012 ),
clicking "Seacrh" and then clicking the Flag for the Language you require :
    Triumph Instructions.com

    Hope this helps !  :821:

I spoke with a Triumph Dealer in the UK for you today
and they confirmed that the Fixing Kit is no longer available.

They also checked the Inventory of all other Dealers in the UK
and confirmed that no-one has any stock.  :110:

HOWEVER - Coconut is not deterred that easily
and I may have some very Good News for you ...
I managed to find an Independent Alarm Installer in the UK
who deals with many brands including Datatool.

I told him of your problem and he says that he has most,
if not all of the parts needed for the Fitting Kit, that he would
let me ( you ) have for a very reasonable price,
    without making any profit !

He is sending the parts to me in the next few days.

If you can send me a Private Message with your Name and address,
when the parts arrive I will check them over and work out the cost
of sending them on to you in Portugal !

    Cheers  :821:

The alarm for my Trophy is sitting amputated, on a shelf in my shed, be warned, if you happen to park your bike near a mobile phone mast or any other powerful transmitter your fob signal will be too weak to turn off your alarm, leaving you marooned. The only person my alarm ever inconvenienced is me, if a thief really wants your bike it will be gone as no-one heeds the alarm when it goes off, except maybe for the poor hotel staff in Italy, who endured a whole day of 20 second breaks between distress signals, when we caught the train to Florence for the day.

In a situation where the Remote Control does not work,
due to Interference, a flat Battery, has been lost, or not available etc,
then - providing the Alarm system has been programmed with a "PIN",
as described in the Datatool S4 Operating Instructions Pages 11 & 12,
the Alarm CAN be disarmed using the procedure for PIN disarming. ( Page 14 ).

The PIN Override procedure is not the easiest to remember,
so I recommend keeping a note of how to use it,
for example stored in the "Notes" of your Mobile Phone.

    Hahaha.

The big problem with this alarm is that everything is controlled by the remote.

If you have the motor start disconnection of the motorcycle and you park in areas of frequency inhibitors, it interferes with the alarm and you are not able to stop the, therefore, the motorcycle does not start and you must take your motorcycle, (not the motorcycle to you) to a place where it is beyond the reach of frequency inhibitors. If you do not have the alarm with motor shutdown you can start the engine and run with the alarm sounding until you can leave the range of the frequency inhibitors.

    Hahaha

    Waspanman,

I did not ampute her and put her in the shed, but I did look for a good job that she does daily. In fact I still have it installed, but as I say doing another service.
