Mounting the Garmin 395LM to the 595 mount

I bought my 13 TTSE used in August.  The previous owner had already installed the SAT/NAV mount but had removed the GPS mount and wiring.  Since I am not a rich man, I decided to purchase the Garmin 395LM.  Smaller, but still waterproof, lifetime maps and Bluetooth.

Yesterday I spent about half the day farkling the bike some.  One of those items was the GPS.  What I didnt realize was the 595 mounting bracket holes didnt line up with the 395 GPS bracket.

Since I had previously mounted a Ram ball mount into the bracket for my phone holder, I decided to leave that on the bike mount and use a very short Ram arm and another ball mount connected to the 395 bracket.  It looks rather clean.  The GPS sits a bit higher visually, but not so much as to interfere with my road view.

Since I did not have the Triumph Sat/Nav cable to install, I decided to use the power port wiring, as I never used the power port in the glove box anyway.  This provided a nice switched power source.  I also didnt run the power wire directly under the mount as I felt there wasnt enough room and would crimp the wire.  So I ran it down a little further to the left where the dash and fairing seemed to be less restricted.

This morning after sleeping on it, I think I will order the proper cable, I believe it is around 10 US, and use glove box power port for my LED light bar I want to install.

I have the same sat nav, not once has it let me down, and been across Europe with it.

I hope mine will serve me as well as yours has served you.  I do plan to start some long distance riding this year, and that is the reason for adding the GPS.  I still have a light bar, R&G Adv. bars, LED blinkers for the front and a Yetti gallon jug holder, I intend to mount on the right passenger peg.  I just need to find a proper way to mount it.

I too have a 395LM and discovered the Triumph bracket did not match the mounting holes in the sat nav carrier. Only way was to make one with the correct hole spacing and get it anodized. You may find the sat nav loses its power source when the 2 small electrical contacts get worn with age.
Do you find your mounting method to be free from "shake" when you ride the bike? It seems a long way off the solid mount.

No it is not free from shaking.  But I knew I would get that with the type of mounting I used.  I used my phone with Google maps since August, so I am used to the vibrations.  I may "fab" a mount one day if I find the shaking to be too bothersome.

About the contracts, I guess I could use the physical plug at that point if needed and use the other "ball" type bracket that came with it.

themiddaysun, I also have a 2.5 litre drink jug mounted on the right foot peg with the drink hose running up to the tank bag. With the zips closed on the tank bag [genuine Trophy] I simply put a small cable tie through the right zip pull and put the drink tube [mouthpiece] through the cable tie. I have enough hose protruding through the cable tie that I don't have to remove it to have a drink. With the drink hose down the left side of the tank bag access is easy with my left hand.
To attach it to the foot peg I simply sit it on the foot peg then put a small strap round behind the tubular frame rail to the front of the peg mount, then back round the drink jug and round the pannier arm, then back through the clasp and pull the strap tight. I use it this way whether I don't have the panniers on or off. It has never moved. I have put some black tape on the front of the pannier to stop it getting marked.
It has served me well on many IBA rides of varying distances. The only problem occurs when I have the rain cover over the tank bag. But with a long enough drink hose, I'm still able to have it reach up to my mouth.
Hope this has been helpful. Cheers.  :821: :158:

Thanks!, I do have some very long industrial type Velcro, that would hold well and is removable.  I have yet to purchase my jug, I had planned on buying the Arctic version as they are only around 30 us. Was looking at drink hoses at Bass Pro Shop when we were there a few months ago, but will most likely get one from Amazon.
