General Discussion : Demise of the Trophy and possible alternatives.

This forum has 3,535 members. We'e missing a few from the 5,380 bikes out there. I suppose that makes Triumph-Trophy.com quite successful.  However hard to predict the fate of the forum with the demise of the bike.  Seems like everything has been talked about several times over.

NOTE : This Topic was created after being Split from a Topic titled,
    "DID YOU KNOW ?? ( Triumph Trophy 2012 onwards ) ....."
as that Topic contained a discusssion about the demise of the Trophy
and possible alternatives, that were not relevant to the original subject.

I'm surprised Triumph only sold 5,380 Trophy bikes. Seems very low...only something like 2.5 per day?

    I would estimate that only around  25 - 33%
of our Forum Members are actually Trophy Owners.

I am regularly amazed at how many Trophy Owners I meet that are NOT Members here.

LOL the bigger surprise to me is why 2/3rds to 3/4qtrs of non-Trophy owning members hang out here  :001:

I was looking back at comments in this forum going back years when the discontinuation of the Trophy came up and many of those who said they are done with Triumph are not only still here, but in some cases still posting about their Trophy   :007:

I used to ride a 500 Dominator and a 750 Atlas long time ago. Both Nortons, for the youngones on this list :002: In those days there were no Motorcycle-lists but now I try to stay informed about the 'Unapproachable's' (that I loved so much) from the sixties and seventies. Not to mention that I may buy a restored Commando one day. I think this is an illustration of why the 'discontinuers' are still on this list. Next to the input of Coconut of course. :001:

What is the magic number of sales that would have justified the continuation of the Trophy? I have only 58,000 miles on my 2013, but I am ready to buy another Triumph Trophy with a newer TRIUMPH TROPHY version. CAN'T. Triumphs response is, buy a "retro Bonneville or something", or a Tiger.  I visited a dealer, threw my leg over the top of the Tiger, no appeal, no magic, no desire..  The tiger "updates" applied to the Trophy would make the Trophy even more desirable. I would instantly buy a new Trophy to replace my 2013 Trophy. I guess my non Trophy purchase options are Yamaha, or BMW, or ?? What the (insert your own exclamation) is wrong with Triumph? Triumph is obviously following, and fond of the "Hardly business model" of motorcycle dealership, and sales. Good luck with that, because H-D is not having any luck with it. Triumph is sending the message,  we don't care about customers, we need to satisfy corporate investment. Could be the demise of the British bike industry repeated all over again. Triumph prefers to, chase, and follow the market, just to stay in the game.  No pride, no balls to lead or set the standard with the  products they have. Triumph has rolled over and exposed their throat.  NEW QUESTION? How many current Trophy owners would buy the next generation Trophy? Doesn't matter. Triumph isn't listening.
