Audio, Sat Nav, and Intercom / Re: Sirius/XM Radio

If I read the thread correctly you are streaming via cell phone. That then has nothing to do with the satellite antenna reception. (the sirius satellite is not "visible" in Europe, just like I have no Astra TV here in California...)

I suggest you use some streaming service like Spotify on the cell phone- you can create your own playlists or follow others or "radio stations" (not in the traditional FM radio though). In case of Spotify, you can keep 3000 songs downloaded on the phone (which requires a significant amount of memory- a ball park of 50-100GByte for the music). Once the music is downloaded, it will no longer use your data plan. Ideally, you download from any free WiFi or from the home WiFi. Then, you have your favorites to listen to even in the spotty covered areas.

I noticed as well that the sound quality of the FM radio is not great, the iPhone via USB or Bluetooth sounds much better.

Thanks for the PM.
For all: Yes I am using digital's schematic to wire the horn.

Saludos, digital! Thanks for showing interest.
I did not take a picture of the final wiring - but your observation is correct:
1) I am using the original wiring from the horn to drive the relay coil only.
2) I ran a separate 2.5mm2 wire from the plus of the battery, with the 20A fuse in line to the relay contact and then to the "+" of the horn
3) I ran a separate wire from the "-" of the horn back to the negative pole of the battery.

The separate "high power circuit" of the horn is not shown in the photos. I assume the fuse blow was due to some "burn in" effect when the compressor is still new, or the tolerance of the fuse was on the low side. Since the Horn is specified to draw 18A I may replace the fuse next time with a 25A after measuring the true current flow.

Here is an update on the practice:
1) almost thought I had a fail at the first test ride- when I tried to use the horn after half hour ring- it was silent. (I have removed the meep-meep one) turns out, the 20A fuse was blown... Since my Multi-meter covers only up to 10A I could not measure the actual draw. The Strebel is spece'd with 18A) I replaced the separate, in-line fuse that I have in the direct battery wire win a new 20 A.
2) did a serious ride up Highway 1 to buy bread (see my post in the "rides...") and the horn held up. But... as GarminDave already said: when I needed to tut the angry horn on a cage driver who did not know how to obey a all way stop sign... I rather used all my reaction time to break, clutch, swear first and honked last. But I did honk so all other folks would understand that I am here and I intend to cross now :-) .

Lighting, Electrical, and Wiring / Re: Dead Battery - again!

Thanks, Coconut! what perplexes me though that- mid driving, at 3000 rpm the voltage drops?? the alternator should provide enough power to hold up with all consumers, including diverse heating systems... which I did not even run.

Any ideas?

Hi, I want to chime in and ask a question:
I bought my 2015 in March and the battery died on the seller in my presence. So, he dropped in a new one, I always tender it (have the Audio SW "E" version).

Last weekend, well one hour into riding, I saw the display "low Voltage" - with the Radio off and the engine running.  :435:
We took a break later and the message did not appear again. Checked the voltage at home (ignition on, engine off) it was 12.48V- so that's well and good.

Anybody seen this?

How tall are you, if I may ask? I am 6"2 (187cm) and have buffeting issues at higher speeds with the screen all up (plus the upper edge is to close to my viewing area). at lower speeds and warmer temps I like to have it all the way down (standard OEM screen that is).

maybe I should also ditch my Nolan N87 for that Schuberth C3?

I was born in East Germany and moved to Nuremberg in 1990- since 2012 in Sunny California (well foggy Bay Area in the summer). I "measured" the curves north of Nuremberg on some rentals, Sprint ST and GT amongst them. Let me know if you need touring tips.

I rented a TTSE in Las Vegas 2018 and got fully infected, needed to have one... Now I do!
