Accessories and Products / R&G Crash bar screw size
« on: July 09, 2021, 04:40:34 pm »
I am missing one screw on the original R&G crash bar fixing, where the air outlet is (must have overlooked that when I bought the bike 2nd hand).
I purchased M10x20 but this does not fit, is it 3/8" ? Amazon link, anyone?

Modifications and Appearance / Strebel Air Horn installed!
« on: July 07, 2021, 06:17:47 pm »

After dwelling, studying and youtube research... I finally removed almost all skin from the bike (Thanks, Coconut and EZ Moto Tim) and get some wires in to hook up some stuff!
One thing is a Strebel Air horn. I simply removed the old "Meep-Meep" and connect the original cable to a relay, ran the high Amp cable directly from the battery and place the horn in the right niche where the radiator air exits.

Now I am keeping my fingers crossed the ambience is not deforming the plastic like it happened to one of us where the horn touched the exhaust pipe...
I can create a little photo story if there is interest here. Will update after some rides in the warm California climate...

Here is the result in 3ft distance (skin still removed, inside the garage):

Audio, Sat Nav, and Intercom / Garmin Zumo connector compatibility
« on: April 07, 2021, 04:24:17 am »
Hi all Zumo user, my trophy came with a Zumo mount, but without device.
1) are all Zumo version fit the same connector / mount?
2) which one is the "best" (visibility in California sun, screen size, voice quality over BT, other quirks you noticed)?
3) can I update the maps over the Internet? does it cost extra?
3) anyone selling his or has a tip where to get one for a reasonable price?

Thanks (and apologies if this has been answered previously, maybe @coconut can reply with the link :-)

Triumph Trophy - General Chat / How do I gas up in CA?
« on: April 02, 2021, 05:21:21 am »
I may sound stupid but I failed to gas up the first time. In California we have the fume absorbing nozzles with this blocking mechanism- if you don't insert the nozzle all the way there is no flow.
Obviously, one does not get the thing all the way into any motorcycle tank... SO I tried to manually trigger the gasket ring thingy.

Did not work. was on a shell gas station. DO you use some sort of tube or colander to refill? WHat is your trick?

Thanks for help.

Hello again,

after snooping here rather passive for some time I took the plunge yesterday and got a 2015 in beautiful blue. I currently live in Marin county, north of the Golden Gate Bridge. Happy to be here, looking forward to measure some of the NorCal twisties.

Cheers to that!  :821:

Triumph Trophy - General Chat / Preowned- service record per VIN?
« on: September 14, 2017, 08:03:27 am »
Hi all you Trophy owners-
as I am still looking around for a good deal I am considering a pre-owned bike.
Questions to the community:
1) is there a service check book with every bike (where authorized shops stamp the service schedule) ?
2) can I (or a Triumph dealer) lookup the service history by the VIN?

I saw a trade-in where the sales rep told me they do not have any service paper trail. should I stay away?

Thanks for your comments.

New Members / Hi from Marin county! (...can I "import" a Trophy to CA?)
« on: September 07, 2017, 05:34:21 pm »
Hi all you riders, here is my virtual Cheers to all!
Greetings from the Bay area, wonderful Marin county! All the roads around me (well, except for the 101  :017:) scream "bike me"- so I will take the plunge to get my dream triumph bike. Come on over, we have sights galore here and many roads are nice & winded.

I am still shopping around, so here is the question to the community:
Can I "import" a Triumph Trophy from another state? I see this irresistible offers from Euro bikes in Las Vegas. (whereas I am quoted the MSRP from the local dealer here, what a disappointment).

Is the Trophy a "50 states vehicle" ?

Thanks for comments and sharing your experience.
