Audio, Sat Nav, and Intercom / Re: Is Garmin Zump 595 LM compatible?
« on: October 30, 2018, 02:04:26 pm »
The Zumo 595 is not compatible with my eyesight! I sent mine back after a tour to Spain in early September where I couldn't see the screen in the bright Spanish sunshine! Turning up the brightness just made the colours wash out until it was all grey!

Thanks Coconut! You are spot on!
I've just done the continuity test you suggested and there is continuity between the connector I found and the redundant connector in the radio box, which confirms that it is the antenna for the XM radio.
I can now refit the front fairing without worrying about the connector!

Thanks for your help!

Maintenance, Servicing, and Mechanical issues / What's this connector?
« on: August 04, 2018, 05:19:31 pm »
I've been happily installing a new Garmin Satnav on to my 2017 SE.
I've removed the front fairing and connected up the power and NAV audio cables.
However, when the time came to rebuild the front end I noticed a connector which I hadn't spotted as I dismantled everything.
It's on the right of the Trophy as I look at the front. There isn't on on the left.
It looks as though it's never been used, but I thought I would ask advice before I put everything back.
Does anyone know what it is?

Triumph Trophy - General Chat / Re: Side Stand Construction

The dealer I bought my Trophy from spun my Trophy on the side stand while I was watching! He didn't seem concerned in the slightest!

Tyres and Wheels / Re: Alright Which is the Best Tire?

Hi Gary! Once again, IMHO you couldn't have chosen a better bike to get back in to biking after your 'rest'!
The Trophy is stable, confidence inspiring, comfortable and has a decent turn of speed when required. The handling is exceptional for a touring bike. The only time I feel my 68 years is when I'm getting it out of the garage and turning it around in my small driveway! The dealer who sold it to me spun it around on the prop stand in the showroom, but I'm a bit reluctant to try that!
Have fun - and let us know how you get on!

Hi Gary!
I use 38psi front and 42psi in the rear. However, as the front wears the Trophy tends to drop in to turns, so I compensate by increasing the pressure in the front. I can go as high as 42psi in the front.
I don't know about all tyres, but both Pirelli Angels and Michelin PR4's have wear bars. See:

I'm 68 and on my second Trophy! Both came with Pirelli Angels ST's which IMHO are perfectly decent tyres. Some have noted that when they go, they go quickly! I got about 8k miles out of the first set and they were still reasonable, but apparently they can go from looking OK to showing canvas (or whatever they use!) in a few hundred miles.
On my first Trophy I replaced the Angels with Michelin PR4 GT's which seemed a better match for the Trophy. Not that the Angels are poor, it's just that the PR4's are better!
I'm still on the Angels with my second Trophy and I'm happy with them but I will go for PR4's when they need changing!

Items for Sale / Re: Silencers

Probably the wrong silencers for this group! Our Trophy's only have one silencer!
