Hmmmm,  I have had mine checked twice, different dealer each time.  No valve adjustment necessary.  Bike runs great with over 47,000 miles on it.

Anyway, Isn't the Ford Focus 125 BHP 3 cyclinder petrol engine 1000 cc not 1215 cc ?

( Also, the Trophy engine is 1215cc not 1200 cc   :007: )

No.  Its 999cc. :015:

I'm not actually comparing, Im highlighting the difference.  I could drive my car for several years without so much as a drop of oil being added (if I was that way inclined), but a bike is a completely different beast. I wouldn't run mine outside of the official service recommendations for fear of something breaking.
In addition, there are far more moving parts in a car than a bike.  Again, just a thought.  My impression as a bike owner on and off since 1981 is that they need a lot more care than a car.  Much as I love working on the bike :821:

Since the bike when out of warranty I have been doing the service myself. I would guess the 40,000-mile service took me 10 to 15 hrs., because I don't do it every day and I don't work on it constantly, only when I get time. I would look around that sounds like too much money. I noticed on the bill they charged me $15/quart of oil; I usually pay about half that.
