Interesting !

When filling FD's , I don't pay any attention to the amount specified in the manual.

I make sure the bike is fairly level and then just fill until the gear oil starts to run out the fill hole. And then reinsert the plug.  Sometimes I'll even squirt in a little extra.   Never have had any problem with any oil coming from the breather, if the bike has one.

The old gear oil looks like it's in pretty good condition.  But it's so easy and quick to change, I like to change it about once a year.  Why not  ? Can't hurt and maybe even helps.

They look like the bolts that attach the calipers on my Concours C-14 , for what that's worth.

I think you should be doing some consulting work for Triumph.  I doubt Triumph has a test bed like yours.

And, I think with a Digital & Coconut on this Forum,  members are sitting pretty as far as the technical end of the Trophy is concerned.

Coconut :  That's interesting.  It looks like the brown wire was actually cut somehow - no evidence of the insulation rubbed away and then the wires becoming frayed before the break occurred. Did the dealer have any explanation for how that happened ?

Yup, that's the point I was making in my previous post, too.

And BTW, it looks like the Ignition Switch Recall was done on kinghoow's bike since it looks like the  wire loom was added.  If true,  isn't that interesting ?

It may be worth the short time ( no pun intended )  it would take to remove the cover on the opposite end from the antenna coil where the antenna harness seems to go  into in the picture before cutting the harness wire.

A visual inspection may reveal where a short is , if the problem is actually a short circuit.

The main reason I think this will be a good idea is because if the coil has a short somewhere, I wouldn't suspect a zero resistance reading, but rather a reading less than the normal coil resistance.   For instance if there was a short inside the coil half way into the winding, the resistance reading would be about 5 Ohms, not 10 Ohms.

No offense to kinghoow or his electrician friend, but I'm not 100% convinced that zero reading is valid, unless there is a short before the coil winding.  I think that's why Digital thought it is a good idea cutting the antenna harness wires to isolate where the short is located.   Coil windings don't usual exhibit a dead short ( zero Ohms ).   Usually a coil will have a broken wire ( infinite Ohm reading ).

So, does it look like the ignition switch wire recall has been done on kinghoow's ignition switch ?
