Just curious : What dealer did you buy it from ??

Smash :  Thanks for that info.

I just checked the MAX BMW parts list and they want $43 for a KL145 filter for a R1150 - about $12 less than the Triumph OEM part.

So, I'll go with the Ebay Mahle KL145 filter w/free shipping for $17.  I just bought one so I or the new owner ( I have no idea how much longer I'll be able to ride - I'm starting to get a little long in the tooth ) will have it in hand 20K miles from now when it's due for a change.  It will only cost more at that time or might not even be available on EBay at that time.

Thanks again Saddle Tramp for that Mahle PN !

Thank you for that info !!  Make or Mahle ??  Never heard of the brand "Make" before.

Your memory serves you well.

I didn't replace mine when I did the valves @ 19K miles because the P.O. had the dealer do it at about the 15K mile mark, according to the service records I got with the bike.  I checked the date code on the filter to verify that.

But at about $55 , I don't consider that filter inexpensive.  I'll use an automotive metal canister filter ( about $8 ) with 5/16 inch barbs on each end when I replace it in about 25K miles ( along with a new fuel pump intake fuel sock filter ).  It should fit just fine with a little longer length of fuel line.  Hey - I'm retired on a fixed income.  And insurance is expensive here in Michigan.

SNIP ........

Saddle Tramp :  Not a bad policy to have since you don't have the flow meter  :007:

Another question :  Did you blow through the old fuel filter ?   I'm curious to know if it was blocked at all after 40K miles.

BTW, there is at least one motorcycle model ( not a Triumph ) that I know of that has a similar sized fuel filter in the gas tank that doesn't specify a replacement interval.   And I have read that modern canister sized fuel filters ( like on the TT & TTSE ) have improved filter media that should last 100K miles.

Yes digital, I checked, and the throttle bodies are still in perfect balance.  :047:

SNIP .....

If you checked them electronically, they may not be in perfect balance.  When I checked mine, There was quite a difference using a flowmeter, even tho electronically they were well within specs.

Also Saddle Tramp,  how dirty was the old filter between the pleats ?

This is where I have my MaxiView blind spot mirrors mounted with some heavy duty velcro.

If both the brake light & tail light are failing, it would suggest a bad ground wire connection, IMO.
