Triumph Trophy - General Chat / Re: Honda ST1300 or Trophy SE?
« on: December 19, 2020, 09:27:31 am »
Initially owned  two ST1300's (the last being a 2009 model) before moving directly to a new 2013 Trophy.  Once I test rode the Triumph  I was hooked with the smoothness and rideability of the Trophy.

While the ST1300 was terrific reliable motorcycles  the newer design and technology showed through.  Of note my pillion in a million suffered from a sore back due to slipping forward while on the Honda due to the slope of the standard seat where this was not apparent on the Trophy, but with the pillion seat higher than the Honda made it a little more difficult to get on or off the motorcycle.

Performance wise I found the Trophy to have better fuel economy with similar performance. Weather protection is similar if not a little better on the trophy.

I would have rode in excess of 80K km on both Honda's and 79k km on the Trophy (in all weather conditions) with no issues with either manufacturer.

Just a few thoughts.

Just to throw another spanner in the works, so to speak, have a look at Eagle screens.  Eagle screens are based in Perth Western Australia and hand make custom screens for all makes of Motorcycles at a reasonable cost.  Although the current Trophy is not listed a look at their Web page and may be of interest.

Triumph Trophy - General Chat / Re: Swapped my Trophy
« on: March 13, 2020, 11:18:11 am »
After seven years and 80,000 km, of trouble free riding I have made the decision to swap my 2013 Trophy .  The decision was not easy but living in a regional area the 400 k (at a minimum) round trip for servicing started to take it's toll. In effect it was a sad day as the bike was fantastic in all aspects with handling and comfort on several 12 hour day rides in all weather conditions.  However the hard decision was made due to the distance and cost of the after sales support provided for the Trophy and some potential internal engine issues developing.

My new ride at approx 30kg lighter and servicing within a 120 km return ride made my decision at 67 a logical choice.

Safe riding to all.

For what it's worth I had a similar problem with brakes pulsing and found the issue to be one disc pad sticking.  only found when I removed the front wheel and checking pads with one pad half the thickness of the remaining seven.  Cleaned the caliper(s), put rubber (small amount) on the piston rubbers and replaced pads and problem went away. Bike had done approx 39,000 at that stage with now 56,000k problem has not resurfaced.

Has anyone had their front tires cupping on the Trophy. I have 10,000 km on mine and the front tire has uneven wear which started at 7000 km and needs to be changed and not because of not enough tread left. Air pressure was always at specs and I don't like to change tires with lots of tread but unfortunately I will have to.
I had a similar wear pattern with Dunlop Road Smart II, which was giving concerning feedback under light braking.  Replaced around the same km as a result.  Pics attached, but wear pattern could be due to a lot of straight road riding.
