Post by: FROSTY on February 22, 2014, 10:51:13 am
Ladies and Gents, have unpaired everything and started again with pairing Sena 10 to bike. Currently 600km from home with no manuals. Can someone give me the idiots guide to pairing Sena 10 to the bike please?
Currently l can pair to wife's helmet to talk but when the Sena 10 is set to intercom pairing the bike will not detect it - what am l doing wrong?

Gary :

Try the suggestion on my previous PM first - to pull Fuse No.3 from the front Fuse Box,
then replace it which "may" reset the audio system.

"UNPAIR ALL" from the Trophy menu, then pair the Rider helmet to Headset 1 and the Pilion to Device 2.
Once they're paired, carry on to connect the two helmets by Intercom.

The full User manual can be downloaded here : SMH10 User Guide (http://senabluetooth.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/UsersGuide_Sena_SMH10-v5.01.pdf)

Relevant ( I hope ! ) Details copied below for you - with my comments in italics.

If you want to start completely from scratch with the helmets,
you can try Resetting from faulty status, or resetting to Factory defaults :

22. To Reset the Headset if in faulty status :
When the SMH10 is not working properly or is in faulty status for any reason,
you may reset by pushing the pin-hole reset button at the back of the headset main unit.
Insert a paper clip into the reset pin-hole and press the reset button for a second with light pressure.
The SMH10 will be switched off, and you have to turn the system back on and try again.
However, this will not restore the headset to factory default settings.

21. To restore the SMH10 to factory default settings :
1. Press and hold the Phone Button for 12 seconds until the LED shows solid red and you hear double beeps.
You will hear a voice prompt saying “Factory reset”.

2. Within 5 seconds, press the Jog Dial to confirm reset.
The headset will be restored to factory setting and switched off automatically.
You will hear a voice prompt saying “Headset reset, good-bye”.

3. If you don’t press the Jog Dial within 5 seconds, the reset attempt is cancelled
and the headset returns to stand-by mode. You will hear a voice prompt saying “Cancelled”.

6.1 Mobile Phone Pairing - Same procedure to pair to the Trophy audio system.
1. Turn on the SMH10 and press the Phone Button for 5 seconds until the LED flashes red and blue
alternately and you hear multiple beeps. You will hear a voice prompt saying “Phone pairing”.

2. Search for Bluetooth devices on your mobile phone.( "mobile phone" = Trophy Audio system ! )
Select the Sena SMH10 in the list of the devices detected on the mobile phone ( Trophy ).

3.
Enter 0000 for the PIN. Some mobile phones may not ask for the PIN.

4. The mobile phone ( Trophy )  confirms that pairing has completed and the SMH10 is ready to use.
You will hear a voice prompt from the SMH10 saying “Your headset is paired”.

5. If the pairing process is not completed within three minutes, the SMH10 will return to stand-by mode

8.1 Pairing with Other SMH10 Headsets for Intercom Conversation
The SMH10 can be paired with up to three other headsets for Bluetooth intercom conversation.

1. Turn on the two SMH10 headsets (A and B) that you would like to pair with each other.

2. Press and hold the Jog Dial of the headset A and B for 5 seconds until red LEDs of the both units start to flash rapidly.
You will hear a voice prompt saying “Intercom pairing”.

3. Simply tap the Jog Dial of any one of the two headsets A or B (It doesn’t matter that you choose A or B.)
and wait until the LEDs of both headsets turn to blue and intercom connection is automatically established.
The two SMH10 headsets A and B are paired with each other for intercom conversation.
If the pairing process is not completed within one minute, the SMH10 will return to stand-by mode

Still searching through all the info for a Comms unit.
Will the "Sena 10" still receive Bluetooth GPS instructions WITHOUT the MIC attached ???
Trying to find a comms unit to use with a Flip Helmet away from a fixed boom mic

all thanks for the help. Problem fixed. My fault not equipment or bikes fault. I was trying to pair the bike with the Sena 10 while in helmet to helmet pairing mode when it should be in Bluetooth pairing mode which explains why the bike could not detect it. My error combined with 6 hours of riding and a few beers.
Coconut thanks for the help in particular as it was your paste that identified what l was doing wrong.
